The Deal and Bets

The number of players at a table can range from one to seven. Game chips, which form the bet, are placed in a circle by every player seated at the table. Cards are dealt to every player at the table by the dealer, including herself. Of the two cards that each player gets, one will be dealt face up for the others to figure out the strength of the play. It is only the dealer's cards that matter since you will be playing against her.

The Game

The game starts with the player to the right on the extreme right and proceeds in a clockwise direction. You win the game if you have a higher hand over the dealer, without exceeding 21. You have the choices listed below when it is your turn to play:

Hit: This means picking a card. There is no limit on the hits.

Stand: Skip your turn and let the other player play.

Double Down: End your turn by taking just one card and doubling your bet.

Split: You can opt for this if you have two cards of the same denomination. This allows you to split and play separate hands for each. However, you will need to place a bet for the new hand.

Surrender: In this, you back out from playing the hand and let go of 50% of the bet amount. However, this is no longer an option in most casinos.

Every player is allowed one play per hand. Though you can hit any number of time, the play does not return to you.

The dealer flips open her cards for all to see once the players have completed 'hitting'. The dealer 'hits' until she reaches 17 or more. If there is an ace as a part of the 17, it is termed as 'soft hit' and the game is unbustable. Anyway, you are to learn the blackjack basic strategy.
